Cincinnati, Ohio, August 18, 2023 – The Charles H. Dater Foundation awarded six new grants in July totaling $525,000, including contributions to major campaigns being conducted by Children’s Theatre, ProKids and Santa Maria Community Services, three organizations with whom the foundation has a long history of support.

The Foundation also made 45 renewal grants totaling $1,340,000 to organizations for programs that were funded in 2021-22.

Grants made in July:

Children’s Theatre, $250,000.  The Children’s Theatre will purchase and renovate the historic Emery Theatre in Over The Rhone, providing the organization with expanded programming opportunities for young people and additional revenue-generation sources while preserving a Cincinnati landmark.

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health – CATS program, $25,000.  Best Point assumed the CATS (Cincinnati Arts and Technology) program from Cincinnati Public Schools and is leveraging it to create more pathways for at risk high schoolers that increase their chances of graduation, employability and/or post-secondary education.

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health – Nutrition program, $25,000.  The Culinary Education and Nutrition program empowers at-risk students by equipping them with skills for success in the field of culinary arts while promoting a healthy lifestyle.

MindPeace, $25,000.  School-based stakeholder-selected partnerships are key to helping schools identify the mental health needs of their students and assisting in the selection of community partners to provide quality, affordable and accessible in-school therapy services.

ProKids, $100,000.  A $28 million campaign features three pillars: the build out of expanded office and programming space in a new and more convenient downtown location, the creation of a sustainability fund, and a significant expansion of the volunteer CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program which the foundation has supported with annual grants since 2007.

Santa Maria Community Services, $100,000.  A $13 million campaign will enable the replacement of outdated facilities scattered throughout the neighborhood with a single, new facility that will allow for expanded youth-oriented programming, partner organization services, and administrative offices.

In addition to the above grants, the Foundation made 45 renewal grants totaling $1,340,000 to organizations for programs that had been funded in 2021-22:
