Programs for Schools
The Art Academy of Cincinnati is celebrating 150 years of delivering excellence in arts education in our community. With support from a Dater grant, Community Education programming brings the power of creativity to children, teens and young adults by providing the opportunity to engage in art and literary encounters that are not always available in the classroom. The Art Academy's newest program, Artist & Writer in Residence, is designed to strengthen critical-thinking and visual intelligence at the high school level.
This popular program is delivered free of charge to grades 7-12 throughout Greater Cincinnati schools. The Art Academy's Community Education instructors, who have degrees in visual and/or literary arts and education as well as extensive experience in their field, deliver the program. Students are provided with all materials needed for the projects as most schools have limited budgets for these courses. Additional materials are left with the students. The program entails three one-hour school visits with a 1/2-day field study (per semester) on AAC’s historic campus (transportation provided).
The Art Academy of Cincinnati is a private not-for-profit institution of higher education and is an anchor for the artistic Over-the-Rhine community in a vibrant and growing arts district.
