Community Outreach & Camp for Evewry Girl Initiative
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio (GSWO) is one of the ten largest Girl Scout councils in the nation, serving 40,000 girls in western Ohio and southeastern Indiana. This grant supported the community outreach program, which is a school-based Girl Scout program that targets girls who face barriers to Girl Scouting and live in low-income neighborhoods. In 2018-19, GSWO served over 2,700 girls by engaging them in girl-led, experiential, and age-progressive learning experiences that increased their self-confidence, interpersonal skills, and academic achievement. The grant also supported the Camp for Every Girl Initiative, which provides girls from low-income backgrounds with outdoor camping experiences. In 2018-19, GSWO served over 100 girls by providing them with camp scholarships, free camping supplies, transportation assistance, and more. Thanks to this grant, thousands of girls in the Greater Cincinnati region are having amazing experiences as Girl Scouts and growing as leaders.
