Catch Every Child Initiative

Grant Application::

Envision Children works to address educational disparities in underserved, minority, and low-income communities, ultimately encouraging students to achieve academic excellence despite the significant opportunity gaps they face. Programming is available to students in grades Pre-K through 12. The organization allows students to better understand crucial concepts by engaging in hands-on, personalized learning activities through a myriad of program offerings. Students who are non-proficient in subjects such as math and reading receive specialized instruction in a supportive environment in afterschool, weekend, and summertime programs. Through its efforts, at-risk youths have access to the educational tools needed to build a future of academic success. The organization is working to address the educational opportunity gap in Greater Cincinnati through its academic enrichment programs, collectively called the Catch Every Child Initiative. The Initiative is a comprehensive and inclusive program designed to fulfill the needs of students through out-of-school time programs and accessible tutoring resources.

Goals/Objectives:
Increase overall literacy and mathematics comprehension through academic enrichment programming. This will be measured with a goal to achieve 85% of all students enrolled in the Catch Every Child Initiative will achieve proficiency at grade level, as measured by the Ohio MAP Test, in reading and math, within three academic years.
Increase academic performance in school to prepare students for high school and higher education. This effort will be measured with a goal to achieve 85% of all students enrolled in the Catch Every Child Initiative will receive all A's and B's on their report cards within three academic years.

Grant Evaluation Report:

Catch Every Child was successfully run in the spring and summer of 2022 in the Northwest School District, with a record number of students attending the Academic Summer Enrichment Program. The partnership with the Northwest School District was discontinued in the Fall of 2022, and the organization was able to rewrite its Catch Every Child curriculum.

Envision Children partnered with the Cincinnati Recreation Commission to provide private tutoring in 10 recreation centers. Envision Children also established a new partnership with the Reading Community School District to provide programming in the Spring of 2023, offering In-Class Instruction, Kindergarten Challenge, Extended Day Program, and private tutoring.

Reading Community School District students completed their first year of Catch Every Child Programming. The program saw excellent results, with 65% of students meeting proficiency in math and reading, and on track for the three-year program goal of achieving 85% proficiency.
