Graduate Success Program Grant Application:

The Graduate Success Program is critical to ensure that all DPCR alumni have the support and resources necessary to graduate from both high school and college. This program provides both financial and emotional support to navigate challenges during college that our low-income, first generation college students would otherwise not have.

Goals/Objectives:
1. The Graduate Success Program works toward a 70% retention rate from the first year to the second year.
2. Provides individual academic and personal counseling to all alumni to ensure they persist towards graduation, re-enroll for those who stopped out, and help those enroll who never enrolled in college.
3. Increase strategic communications with alumni, and host events to welcome them on campus in order to help ensure they do not slip through the cracks.
4. Develop a mentoring program using volunteers.
5. Provide laptops to those alumni who cannot afford laptops.
6. Increase micro-grant funding to alumni.

Grant Evaluation Report:

This past year the program helped 83 college-going alumni for a total of $111,395 and last year we were able to award $72,137 to 65 alumni. An analysis showed that 75% of the alumni who received micro-grants graduated or have stayed in college working towards graduation. graduation.

Results:
1. The retention rate between freshmen and sophomore years improved to 75%.
2. The Graduate Success Director provided counseling, visited alumni at their colleges, and traveled to Tennessee to make contact with a financial aid office that made a mistake on an alum's tuition statement. The visit resulted in the funding being reinstated. This is just one example of the many contacts and advice given. 3. For the last 90 days, 6,615 contacts were made with alumni.
4. A monthly e-newsletter is sent to all alumni with important dates, sign-ups, seminar information, and shout-outs to alums who are excelling or graduating.
5. The mentoring program was not developed.
6. Over 60 laptops were distributed to alumni. These were all donated by Huntington Bank.
7. Funding via micro-grants increased from $72,137 awarded in FY 22 to $111,395.30 awarded this year.
