Job Readiness Grant Application:

Job Readiness is our core program. We provide our Members with training and coaching to prepare them to acquire and retain employment. Our coaches work with unemployed and underemployed Members throughout their journey to economic self-sufficiency, helping them map out an overall career plan, apply for jobs, retain employment, build workplace and professional skills, overcome barriers to employment, and learn financial management skills. We also connect to over 40 partner agencies that help our Members with barriers to employment that we do not cover. Our coaches help Members coordinate these services for an overall, comprehensive approach to their path out of poverty for themselves and their families.
Services are available to our Members for life at no charge. Members may leave and come back, as they need or prefer. For most, the path out of poverty is a long and winding one, often taking 3 to 5 years or longer.

Grant Evaluation Report"

Cincinnati Works is moving into our second quarter-century with bold new goals while remaining committed to our mission to help individuals move out of poverty via employment. We realize that sustainable financial wellness is about more than income, and our Members are seeing this too, as the demand for our financial coaching grows. We have always had a holistic approach, helping our Members overcome not just barriers to employment they face, but also barriers in other areas of a well-rounded life, including behavioral health, Transporation, child care, financial literacy, digital literacy, and long-term goals. As our individual Members grow and improve their lives and careers, they provide a better life for their children as well, including serving as strong role models for their future careers. We are excited to see what 2023 and beyond will bring, particularly as we begin partnerships focused on helping high school students prepare for work in addition to our traditional programs for adults in the labor force. We also are continuing to build out our financial wellness services to further support the long-term success of our Members.

In 2022, we had 85 to complete JumpStart Job Readiness training and about 133 new and continuing Members gain new employment. Job retention for those staying at the same employer was 27% and for continuous employment at more than one job was 33%. 77 were employed at above poverty wages and 22 at or above self-sufficiency wages. Among financial coaching participants, 64 increased, 60 increased net worth, and 165 increased their credit scores.
