Children's Programming

Grant Application:

Over 80% of Cincinnati children ages 2-8, and their caregivers, tune in to and trust the 70 hours of weekly children's programming on CET. Each year, new children's programming is developed for PBS stations to purchase and use to educate their youngest viewers. As with all programming, it is tested with PBS to ensure that viewers learn through embedded elements on-air and online.

CET is excited to debut this fall ELINORA WONDERS WHY. This new series aims to encourage children to follow their curiosity, ask questions when they don’t understand and find answers using science inquire skills. Emmy-award broadcast programming is complemented on-air through in-person and online workshops for students and teachers. CET believes the three-prong approach is most successful to reach kids on-air, online, and in the classroom. As a result, kids learn reading and STEM and are encouraged to be good and caring individuals.

GOALS:
CET airs over 50 hours of award-winning, children's programming per week on our main channel and also airs additional programming on our PBS KIDS 24/7 Channel to more than 2.3 million residents in the tri-state region. PBS helps children learn reading, math, and essential skills. National PBS research shows that the majority of viewers are women of the household who are 18- to 49-years-old with children under three and households with two- to eight-year-old children from all socioeconomic status groups. These individuals are our target audience for viewership and for participation in educational, outcome-based "games" on CETconnect.org and PBSKids.org.

Grant Evaluation Report:

On multiple platforms, PBS reaches families and classrooms across America with research-based, trusted content. These learning tools are available free in both informal and formal learning settings, helping make any time a learning time for America's students, from preschool through high school.

PBS KIDS offers a whole child curricular approach to learning, with content on TV and digital platforms that is proven to improve learning outcomes. With the new 24/7 PBS KIDS channel and live stream, this programming is available to nearly every child in the U.S.

More children are now able to watch Emmy award-winning PBS programming for kids during "their primetime" 6:00pm - 9:00 pm weeknights.
