Supporting Civic Mentoring Teams and Field Trip Opportunities

Grant Application:

Adopt A Class Foundation will train and support 75 civic teams serving as mentors to students attending schools in Greater Cincinnati in underserved communities. This investment means almost 2,000 students will benefit from mentoring. Additional resources will be donated by mentor teams (average of $600 per team) totaling $45,000 and $93,000 in estimated value of donated volunteer hours.  Your investment will be the catalyst for a much larger return on that investment.  Adopt A Class anticipates significant partner growth including the addition of 15 new civic partner teams.  Our increased funding request is to support the addition of these new teams which increases the number of students impacted by almost 500 students.

Mini grants will be made available to teams to help cover a portion of field trip expenses.  Field trips to places of employment are valuable opportunities to expose students to career paths and a window into their future.

Grant Evaluation Report:

The success of the focused recruitment and ongoing program support of mentor teams outside of the corporate sector representing careers in nonprofits, public safety and public works, legal services, and community based career sectors grew student exposure and engaged significantly more mentors in the program. AAC anticipates even larger growth for the upcoming school as a result of the partnership with the City Manager's office to involve all City of Cincinnati departments, the Hamilton County Commissioner's offices to involve all county departments, and the significant growth of university and college partnerships with NKU, UC, Miami University, Cincinnati State, and Gateway Community College.
