Operation School Bell
Operation School Bell® has been the Assistance League's signature community action program for over 23 years and is designed to alleviate the demonstrated need for clothing assistance in area schools. The program is highly effective and impacts the lives of many students. New school clothing, including pants, long sleeve and short sleeve shirts, underwear, socks, a fleece jacket, and a belt, are provided to children who are financially disadvantaged and attend 43 public and parochial elementary schools in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas. Children participating in Operation School Bell are selected annually by school administrators, resource coordinators and social workers based upon their eligibility under Federal Lunch Program guidelines. Participating schools receive boxed sets of clothing for in-school distribution as well as hygiene supplies that include toothpaste, toothbrushes, boys’ and girls’ deodorant, and sanitary napkins for girls.
