Teaching Artist Program (TAP)
The mission of Visionaries + Voices as an inclusive arts organization, is to provide creative, professional, and educational opportunities to artists with disabilities. V+V expands opportunities for artists who have an interest in teaching, speaking, and public leadership positions in the field of visual art. The Teaching Artist Program (TAP) supports those goals, while offering the community the opportunity to learn about art from a unique perspective. V+V artists who complete TAP courses bring lesson plans to classrooms, community centers, and partnering organizations all over Greater Cincinnati. Like many non-profit organizations across the country and around the world, Visionaries + Voices was forced to temporarily close its doors to the public in 2020 from March 16th through the first of July, as well as November, 2020 through April 15th, 2021. Both studio locations were suspended and all employees (other than a few essential administrative staff members) were furloughed. While not able to meet in person, the organization was able to begin using virtual learning and programming. This helped continue engagement with artists. In FY2019 – March, 2020, TAP artists worked with 250 students, providing an important message of inclusion as TAP artists share their successes. TAP has ongoing commitments scheduled with the Cincinnati Art Museum, Stepping Stones, Chase School, Applied Behavioral Services, Heidt Center of Excellence, ReMake Learning Days, and a three week, in-house youth visual arts summer camp.
