Laboratory of Movement Classes
Pones believes that dance can be more than a performance, and uses dance as a catalyst for social change. Laboratory of Movement (LOM) programs provide arts education experiences to underserved individuals of all ages. The funds support Pones’ continued partnerships with Interfaith Hospitality Network, Anna Louise Inn, and The Carnegie; while supporting expansion of a new partnership with Found Village and the Girl Scouts; trauma-informed teacher training surrounding DEIA and Child Abuse topics; mandatory BCI/FBI background checks for teachers; and administrative stipends. Despite the pandemic, Pones managed to reach approximately 153 individuals and continued to utilize funds until July 24th thanks to Dater’s generosity and flexibility. One participant at Anna Louis Inn stated that in Pones classes, "I can be my own beautiful, true, self. This is just the beginning.”
