Special Covid-19 Relief Grant
This grant is one of more than 20 grants that the Dater Foundation made in 2019-20 to previous grant recipient organizations working on the frontlines to provide life saving and life sustaining services to persons most deeply affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
With the intent to swiftly raise and deploy flexible resources to local organizations supporting individuals affected by the coronavirus outbreak, Greater Cincinnati Foundation and United Way of Greater Cincinnati teamed with cross-sector partners and national and regional funders to launch the COVID-19 Regional Response Fund. This Fund exceeded its initial target of $5 million and was able to deploy $7.3M into the community. Dater Foundation’s $250,000 contribution helped make this big impact possible.
The fund addressed immediate needs including food insecurity, housing and shelter, medical response, and childcare/eldercare caused by COVID-19-related closures and supported communities most negatively affected by the impacts of the coronavirus. Grants helped provide childcare for emergency responders; emergency shelter for domestic violence victims; emergency meals for seniors and families in need; free diapers to local parents; emergency rental assistance; access to PPE and COVID-19 testing kits; and much more. In total, more than 250 local nonprofits supported through the fund reported engaging over 4.8 million individuals through their services (given the overlap in populations served this figure does not represent unique individuals).
