Girl Scouts at Home
Girl Scouts of Western Ohio (GSWO) is the sixth largest Girl Scout council in the nation and the largest Girl Scout council in Ohio, serving more than 33,000 girls and 12,000 volunteers in western Ohio and southeastern Indiana every year. In 2020, GSWO received a $20,000 grant from the Charles H. Dater Foundation to support Girl Scouts at Home, a virtual and distance learning initiative that kept girls connected to the Girl Scout Leadership Experience during the pandemic. During summer 2020 and the 2020-2021 school year, approximately 2,000 Cincinnati girls participated in virtual Girl Scout badge programs and virtual camp, enabling them to increase their self-confidence, grow as leaders, and learn interpersonal skills that will positively impact their academic achievement.
