Day of Hope 2020
The Faith Alliance Coalition of District 3 hosted The Day of Hope 2020 with support of a grant from the Dater Foundation. Day of Hope 2020 was a youth event aimed at getting children the proper school supplies, hygiene kits, food boxes, household items, and coats while building stronger community relationships with the Cincinnati Police Department. The summer of 2020 created a complexity of social issues including a Covid-19 global pandemic, racial and police tensions across the country which in turn altered Day of Hope's initial gathering in a park. In order to continue to support over 350 families in the District 3 neighborhoods, adjustments were made with the creation of a drive-thru event due to the inability to gather in large groups. As a result, families were able to receive much needed school supplies while getting access to information from service agencies including health agencies, rent and utility support, and jobs opportunities. The Day of Hope also provided an opportunity for community building by creating a space for the families to meet officers from the Cincinnati Police Department who protect and serve their community.
