Early Childhood and Youth Service Music Program

CABVI provided home-based early intervention services as well as individual and group music therapy sessions with partial salary support from the Dater Foundation for two music therapists.  Each child learned to create music in ways that utilize fine and gross motor skills and use of their remaining vision.  Children also gained skills that empowered them to feel more confident in their unique abilities.  CABVI’s Annual Music Recital featured enthusiastic performances by groups and individuals who are blind or visually impaired.  The participants in the music recital demonstrated on-going improvement with their fine and gross motor skills, communication abilities, social skills, and instrumental skills.  Children and adults who are blind and visually impaired performed by playing piano, singing, and playing instruments including percussion in the recital.  A lively audience of family and friends reflected the high level of community participation and emotional support that encourages participants in CABVI’s Music Program to express themselves fully as unique and creative individuals.  Everyone helped everyone to celebrate their accomplishments!
CABVI served 69 individuals in the music program.
