CAC Youth Education Programming
The Contemporary Arts Center (CAC) provides experiences, through exhibitions, performances, educational, and outreach programs, to engage and interact with the art and ideas of our time. CAC Youth Education Programming is designed to create experiences enabling young visitors and their caregivers or teachers to engage with, think about, and enjoy contemporary art. In 2020, the CAC reached 76,023 children and adults through programming funded in part by the Dater Foundation. Our community was engaged through a mix of in-person and digital/virtual methods in keeping with COVID-19 social distancing requirements. Education programs are inspired by CAC exhibitions, explore creativity, and encourage experimentation to engage visitors and promote an interest in art. CAC education programming inspires the next generation of artists through hands-on activities, exploration of art mediums and techniques, and an introduction to the best contemporary art of our time.

This is one of several pieces that was made for the CAC’s Art Play Hike. These videos start with an artist interview about their practice and how the park in which it occurs inspires them, then CAC Education Staff discuss what the naturalist taught participants on the hike, and it ends with an art project to do at home and a quick yoga session.
