Providing Safe and Quality Boychoir Programming
The Cincinnati Boychoir, founded in 1965, reaches boys from all over the Greater Cincinnati region with a mission to enhance and deepen every boy’s creative expression, community engagement, and cultural appreciation through the vocal arts. The Dater Foundation grant in this pandemic year supported the Boychoir as they shifted programming to a mostly-virtual format which also included four covid-safe performance opportunities and ten collaborations with other arts organizations. The Boychoir is proud of the impact they have had on the community over the past year, despite the unique circumstances and challenges the covid pandemic caused. In the 2020-2021 season, the Boychoir served 70 individual boys with 167 choir enrollments across three sessions, from 37 neighborhoods and 38 different schools around the tri-state region. They commissioned a new choral arrangement, welcomed two new boys into the choir through the Project 52 launch in Pleasant Ridge, and launched a new YouTube series, Boychoir Banter, which is a live discussion series that includes topics of interest to boys who love music.
