Family Learning Programs
Emerging from its 2016 strategic plan, the Cincinnati Art Museum’s mission states: "Through the power of art, we contribute to a more vibrant Cincinnati by inspiring its people and connecting our communities." The museum’s highest purposes are inspiration, empowerment, education, and community building, which it attempts to achieve through every facet of work, including public and educational programming, collecting and exhibitions, scholarship, and conservation. This Dater Foundation’s grant supported Family Learning Programs for the 2019-2020 program year. Family Learning at the Cincinnati Art Museum includes programs that reach children of every age, from Baby Tours to CAM Kids Days and Summer Camp to the Teen Art Expo. These programs reached 9,210 children between September 2019 and August 2020, even as our doors were closed for nearly 100 days in the spring and summer due to COVID-19. At the onset of the pandemic, museum educators in the Division of Learning & Interpretation responded immediately with a wide range of online programs for audiences of all ages. Among those programs were family opportunities for fun and creative art games, challenges, drawing tips, and artmaking activities.
