Kreative Kids - Children's Cancer Support Programs
For over 30 years, Cancer Support Community’s mission to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action and sustained by community has driven the organization to provide critical support and programming to an annual 4,000 Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky residents affected by cancer. The COVID-19 crisis dictated that adjustments be made to activities to ensure the safety and well-being of the community. A grant from the Dater Foundation allowed for the continuation of programming via digital platforms and safe in-person events. Together, nearly 100 children with nearly 20% from economically disadvantaged families (up from 9% in 2019) were served. Programs included Backyard Bash: Parking Lot Edition community event, virtual therapeutic arts, home delivered activities, and more which created opportunities to build connection and community. With over 400 engagements, results from program surveys indicated that 95% of participants experiences decreased loneliness, depression, and anxiety and 94% experiences feelings of hope and connection with others. Together Community is Stronger than Cancer.
