Child Nutrition and Culinary Services
Numerous research studies link poor nutrition to deprived health outcomes and mental illness. The Children’s Home of Cincinnati is reimagining the way it meets the nutritional, educational, and treatment needs of vulnerable children and families we serve. Starting in August 2018, the Child Nutrition and Culinary Services program was added to the list of services. The vision of the program is to provide healthy and fresh nutritious meals to students on the Children's Home campuses and foster nutrition and health education. The goals of this integrated health program are to provide nutritious meals to students and their families, teach them how to eat healthy on a budget, and give opportunities for older youth and young adults to gain job skills in the food service industry. The incorporation of nutrition therapy and education is also expected to provide medical and therapeutic health benefits.
