New Math and Science Curriculum for ACUE Junior High Classes
ACUE is an office of the Department of Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Covington, and exists to support the six diocesan urban elementary schools. These schools need and deserve special attention due to their important ministry of values-based education and their stabilizing presence in the urban neighborhoods of Northern Kentucky. The six schools serve an increasingly impoverished population of students. Dedicated staff offers love and acceptance to students of all backgrounds and abilities with a goal to provide the best in holistic education. A Dater Foundation grant in 2018 supported the purchase of new math curriculum for K-6 students at five of six schools (not the Montessori). This grant in 2019 permitted ACUE to expand this program to seventh and eighth grades, providing not only a new math curriculum but a new junior high science curriculum as well. The new science curriculum is compliant with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) recently adopted in Kentucky. Both the math and science curricula feature text and digital components. These STEM upgrades were essential at the ACUE
