Education Outreach Series
The KSO enriches, educates and entertains area residents through thematic programs designed to make the concert experience attractive, accessible and affordable for all. For 25 seasons, the KSO’s Education Series has supplemented arts education in over 244 schools, reaching nearly 139,000 students free of charge. The educational concerts “Back in My Day" and "Rags to Riches" introduced classical and American musical genres that enhance and engage student understanding and participation. KSO education presentations featured a local high school junior violinist, video, historical images, Q&A, hands-on instrument demonstrations, and sing-a-longs for student and teacher enrichment and engagement. A Dater grant helped the KSO reach 52 schools from five counties in 2018-19. More than 57% of the 4,129 participants were considered to be economically disadvantaged.
