School-based Personal Safety Program
The Council on Child Abuse (COCA) works to protect and educate children so they can thrive at school and home. A Dater grant supported efforts to educate children about the effects of bullying and abuse. COCA offers sessions the familiarity of the child’s classroom. Afterward, children have the opportunity to speak to one of the classroom educators privately to express any concern. During the 2018-2019 school year, 921 classroom presentations were given at 74 schools serving 18,912 children.
