Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired

7000 Hamilton Avenue
Cincinnati, OH 45231

Adaptive Sports Program Since 1903, Clovernook Center for the Blind & Visually Impaired has been a champion for blind and visually impaired (BVI) individuals in Cincinnati and the United States. A Dater Grant enabled Clovernook to pilot an Adaptive Sports Program. Through this program, BVI children and teens participate in and challenge themselves through a variety of physical activities. They build friendships and self-esteem all while improving their overall physical health.

Clovernook’s Adaptive Sports Program has sponsored adaptive rock climbing and skiing experiences for BVI youth. The Center brought the sport of Showdown to Cincinnati, a fun, fast-paced game similar to air hockey and designed for the blind. Also being offered is Beep baseball, a modified game for BVI children to participate in America’s favorite pastime.  Clovernook will continue to offer adaptive sports experiences to local BVI youth, encouraging them to learn the fundamentals of a healthy lifestyle within the context of their own abilities.
