Education and Outreach Program
Cincinnati Shakespeare Company is a resident ensemble theatre company bringing Shakespeare and the Classics to life for audiences of all ages. The CSC Education and Outreach Program serves as the company’s vehicle to expand its mission beyond its walls. The program sparks an appreciation for the arts by starting the conversation about Shakespeare, the classics, and drama with students of all ages. Enriched by the knowledge and stories shared, students become empathetic and creative members of the Cincinnati community. The support of the Dater Foundation aided in CSC providing performances, workshops, classes, and camps that improved students’ comprehension of Shakespeare’s text, appreciation of theatre, attitude, confidence, academic performance, and empathy.
CSC’s touring company, comprised of professional actors, took free tours and workshops to the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center. Moved by their experience, one of the student inmates shared the following statement: “I haven’t laughed this hard in months. This is the most fun I’ve had in my entire life.”
