Cincinnati Public Radio is committed to outreach programs for the next generation.

The Foundation used on-air announcements to highlight the good work being done by its grant recipients and to encourage new grant applications from nonprofit organizations for deserving projects.

WGUC’s Classics for Kids® introduces elementary school-aged children to classical music in a fun and entertaining way. By listening to Classics for Kids® on the radio and via podcasts and accessing its wide variety of multi-media activities online, children can develop an appreciation of this unique art form. www.wguc.org;  and www.classicsforkids.com

WVXU’s Democracy & Me is an outreach program that reinforces the importance of citizenship and journalism in our democracy. The website www.democracyandme.org highlights student journalism and local high school newspapers, features a student spotlight and the opportunity to win student scholarships. Dr. David Childs of Northern Kentucky University creates interesting blog posts with lesson plans about current events.

In 2019, Julie Coppens was hired as Educational Outreach Coordinator to act as a champion for WGUC’s Classics for Kids and WVXU’s Democracy & Me programs.
