MYCincinnati Summer Camp & 3rd Annual Price Hill Creative Community Festival (PHCCF)
Price Hill Will is a nonprofit comprehensive community development corporation serving the Price Hill neighborhoods. Its mission is to revitalize the Price Hill neighborhoods, with a focus on physical revitalization, economic development, and community engagement. The goal is for Price Hill to be a place where people want to live, work, play, raise kids, and hang out. Price Hill Will was founded in 2004 as the culmination of a community based Appreciative Inquiry process that engaged some 3,000 residents in a conversation about the future of Price Hill. From this emerged an asset based approach to community development that seeks to strengthen and build upon the many outstanding resources of the neighborhood. Since 2004, Price Hill Will has collaborated with the city, local universities, and numerous nonprofit organizations to bring development dollars and activities into the neighborhood.
MYCincinnati hosted its 7th annual summer camp in 2018, culminating in the 3rd annual Price Hill Creative Community Festival (PHCCF), a free performing arts and neighborhood festival. The mission of the festival is to use collaborative performing arts as a tool to build a more creative and inclusive community. The festival brings together world-class professional artists with the musicians of MYCincinnati to create brand new, collaborative work. Performances will happen over two days across five venues in East Price Hill. The festival, which drew over 1,500 people in 2018, is providing an opportunity for Price Hill youth to strive towards their full potential, while building a more creative and connected community.
MYCincinnati's summer camp engaged 80 children for four weeks of intense, high-quality music education programming. This totaled to over 120 hours of programming per child. The camp's activities included orchestra rehearsals, sectionals, private lessons, performances, and special collaborative projects with world-class professional artists. The camp culminated in the 3rd Annual Price Hill Creative Community Festival, which was a huge success. The festival drew people from diverse racial, ethnic, and national backgrounds for two days of concerts, performance art, visual art, food, and community.
