Be a Child’s Voice
PARACHUTE: Butler County CASA recruits, screens, and trains community volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children in juvenile court. The Dater Foundation provided funding to train more CASA volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates) who are needed to stand up for these vulnerable children and make sure their most vital needs are met -- health, safety, academic success, counseling, and permanency in a safe, loving home to break the cycle of abuse, poverty, and negative outlook. CASA volunteers are strong, compassionate adults who are a consistent presence, who care, who listen, and who put the child’s interests first. CASA volunteers give children a say in what is happening to them and speak for them when they cannot speak for themselves. CASA volunteers help the children heal and thrive, and they give them the support they need to become happy, successful adults. In 2018, 77 CASA volunteers (23 newly trained) served 313 abused children in Butler County.

A Success Story from a grateful foster parent ...
“Our CASA Volunteer was a blessing from day one. As a foster parent, I have seven children placed in my home and our CASA treated all of the kids so very, very well. The children greeted her by running to her and almost knocking her over with hugs every time she came to visit. She was helpful in every way and was genuinely interested in the well being of all of the children. Can’t imagine going through this process without her.”
